Study patterns of structural and functional change in slum settlements in relation to the type of state interventions in slum communities in Hyderabad city.
Identify Policies and programmes directed towards the needs of urban poor in slums;
study existing social facilities and the levels of satisfaction with it;
analyze Socio-economic conditions (occupations, incomes, religion, migration and demographic patterns) of the households and their housing conditions;
identify the choices households make in general to the physical shelter amenities, location and tenure alternatives to examinie the relationship between existential functions and material – legal aspects in housing priorities of urban poor;
describe and analyse the major changes in land use pattern, social composition, community identity and levels of participation in the slum under study since 1973;
examine evolving & changing settlement in relation to the actors’ changing definitions of housing situation reflected in the process of displacement and replacement of households;
Examine the functional role of slums in the process of social & economic adaptation & mobility of the urban poor
Methodology – blend of both primary & secondary sources. Primary sources include collection of data through structured interview schedules, interviews.
